🌞 What Is PVSmile and Why Does It Matter?

This is the mission of PVSmile, a €5 million Horizon Europe project led by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). Running from November 2025 to October 2028, the project unites partners from across nine Mediterranean countries — both EU and non-EU — to digitalise the lifecycle of community-integrated photovoltaic (PV) systems.

PVSmile’s goal is to transform traditional, centralised PV installations into flexible, community-based assets that integrate digital intelligence, circular business models, and inclusive governance.

PVSmile combines AI, machine learning, blockchain, cybersecurity, and digital-twin technology to enable smart-grid-ready energy communities.

Building a PV-centric Data Space integrating blockchain and semantic interoperability;
